Anna Fritz Cello
|
I’ve been playing the cello for 22 years. I studied classical music for the first 12 of those years, culminating with instruction from Uri Vardi, Professor of Cello at the University of Wisconsin Madison, and student of Janos Starker. Since then, I’ve written, performed and recorded with numerous indie rock bands, singer-songwriters, and composers. I’ve also written and recorded a solo album for cello and voice. To hear some of my work, visit www.myspace.com/annafritz. As a teacher, I’m dedicated to helping folks have a healthy physical relationship to the cello. In order to avoid injury, produce excellent tone, and make us more aware human beings through playing music, I focus a lot on how the body interacts with the cello. For Grown Ups: I believe in finding the way that each person learns best. We don’t have to go the Mary Had Little Lamb route (unless that works for you!), but I’ve got the discipline, training and skill to help you get where you want to go with the cello, without the frustration of wrestling a fretless instrument alone. For Kids: I have a lot of experience working with children in a number of different capacities, and am excited about bringing my love of the cello to young people. I’m able to develop trusting, playful relationships with kids of all ages and I believe in involving them fully in directing the learning experience. Learning to play the cello is hard work, but it’s also a BLAST!

Kendra Carpenter Cello, Piano
|
The Cake. I was pulled to the piano at age 3, friends-for-life with it by age 4. I was drawn to the cello at age 12, completely in love with it by age 14. I was expanded and enlightened by University of Denver professor Richard Slavich for several years, then blessed with a full scholarship to the University of Colorado in Boulder where I was further inspired and instructed by Judith Glyde. After graduating with degrees in Music Performance and Environmental Design, I spent the next decade working and teaching and performing throughout the Rocky Mountains of Colorado…everything from summer festivals to weddings, from elementary schools to patient rooms in hospitals, from bars to stages, from backyards to yoga centers.
The Icing. In addition to being totally into that state of bliss that often comes from making music, I also love, and I mean love, snowboarding, kayaking, traveling internationally, sailing, yoga, backpacking adventures, learning something new, dancing and…of course, really yummy desserts.
A few Sprinkles. I’ve been honored and blessed with experiences like: being a guest artist with the Sam Houston State University Ballet Company; performing with Yo Yo Ma, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra; attending master classes with amazing cellists such as Carter Brey and Bernard Greenhouse; running a marathon and an ULTRA marathon; and traveling to places like Japan, Australia and Mexico.

Jon Neufeld

Guitar
|
I started out as a drummer. I played for about 10 years. When I was 14, I switched over to guitar. I was into people like Frank Zappa, Pat Matheny and John McLaughlin. My father is a guitarist and singer who spent many years touring and my mother is a wonderful pianist and vocalist. I grew up playing drums in church with my mom and dad. That is the basis I came from. Playing with people, learning when to play, when not to, what adds, what takes away from a tune.
I like to teach now to pass on things that I've learned after playing out and touring for a good 10 years. I really enjoy meeting new people and seeing where they're at, where they want to go and coming up with a game plan to get where they would like to be.
I now play in a gypsy jazz group called the "Kung Pao Chickens" and with a bluegrass group called "Jackstraw". Occassionally, I get the chance to do a duo gig with my friend Danny Barnes, which is always a thrill!
Playing music is fun and I like to think that getting a guitar lesson can be fun too. I know it's fun teaching. I enjoy it thoroughly. Give me a call and have a great time learning to play guitar!

If you just want to learn some songs we can do that. If you want to learn how to shred we can do that. If you want to play solo classical guitar we can do that too. All I need from you is to set aside practice time and to practice so we can keep moving forward. If you do I'm sure you will enjoy the results. Playing music can be a lot of fun and now is your chance to be a part of it. I teach all levels from beginners to advanced.
