James Cook

James grew up in a house filled with music. With a piano and a Hammond organ back to back in the living room, guitars and ukuleles, and parents who sang and played them, it’s no surprise that James found music as a natural past time. Now a multi-instrumentalist and composer with multiple film, television, and radio credits, it’s more of a full time endeavor. The founding member of local traditional jazz favorites “Trashcan Joe” also spends a lot of time performing on instruments he builds out of found objects such as trashcans and washboards. James teaches ukulele, bass (acoustic, and electric, and his own “Trashcan Bass”), Tenor guitar, and various forms of banjo.
