Yascha has been teaching private music lessons on various instruments for over fifteen years. He holds a music degree from the University of North Texas and has worked as a session player in various studios in Austin, Dallas, and Portland. He teaches drums, percussion, piano, guitar, bass, and theory / improv to students of all ages and skill levels

In his 10 years in Portland, Yascha has taught over 100 people to play their favorite songs on many different instruments and is the founder of Starfish Studios.

Yascha has worked with the “Make A Wish” foundation as a wish granter to a young patient who dreamed of being able to play music and is a volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of Oregon where he was recently named Columbia Northwest “Big Brother of the Year” for 2010.
Yascha also works with middle school students on a weekly basis through the Starfish Studios “Youth Rock Band” program where he helps the kids write their own songs for performances.

In addition to teaching and performing, he also produces albums for songwriters and bands of many different genres. Yascha mixes a strong background in technique and music theory with a relaxed teaching approach that keeps the lessons fun while students achieve their musical goals. All students are encouraged to bring in their favorite CDs which are used to custom-tailor a lesson plan that suits each individual student.
